Then we went into the back and there was Chastity. She immediately hopped over to me, grinning and shaking her head from side to side. Her leg was encased in a well padded bandage. We put her on an exam table so Dr. Radcliffe could show me how to take the bandage off and to re-bandage, I would have to do this myself as Chastity healed. She had a good long scar on her leg but it was tight and nearly dry as the bandage was removed. As we placed her on the floor after the bandage was secured, I could see that she was already putting her weight on it more than she had after we had the cast taken off. It was obvious she was more comfortable already! I was briefed on the supplements and meds she would be on for a while, and advised to restrict her activity. Dr. Radcliffe felt that, while she might be close to normal in about six months, if we were careful in a year she should be able to run as she used to. My little sprite, my giggle-butt, my sweet girl, would be running again with her pack, in joy. I was thrilled, to say the least! After one last photo of the amazing Jim and Chastity, we started on the road home, heading back to Fox Glen.
Friday morning I was at the hospital early to pick up Chastity. There were a couple of patients waiting along with me.

Dr. Radcliffe arrived shortly and took me to a waiting room to look at radiographs. The results of surgery were amazing! Chastity had her ability to bend her pastern again. Her leg was straight. The screws holding the plate had situated really well and removed the necessity of a second plate, which might have had to be removed later. This plate would stay in her leg.
