driving into West Virginia
The response from the Silken community was incredible.   So many people sent money so quickly that I was able to call the doctor whom Judy Lowther recommended,  Dr. Radcliffe, a board certified orthopedic specialist at Town and County Animal Hospital in West Virginia.   I called them to see if they were willing to take a look at her x-rays, explaining the situation over the telephone as best I could.  I received an email the same day stating that Dr. Radcliffe would take a look.  By late that night I had them scanned and sent them.  The next morning brought a response - Dr. Radcliffe felt he could repair the damage and save the leg!  I was ecstatic!

He also gave a quote lower than the quote for surgery in Omaha when her leg was first broken.

I called them  and asked how quickly he wanted to do the surgery, and what day I should plan on being there.  Thursday June 18th was to be the day.

I would have to leave Tuesday, the 16th, as it was a two day drive and I needed to be at the clinic early on Thursday morning.  Several folks offered to open their homes as well as their hearts to us for stopping points during the drive, for which I am very grateful.   In the end, I would stay coming and going at Fox Glen, with Elise & Ron in Loveland (what a great  and appropriate name!) near Cincinatti.

I packed, arranged the dogs and my husband as comfortably as I could, and we took off midmorning on Tuesday.

We arrived late that night at Fox Glen.  There were hugs and a comfortable bed waiting for both of us.  The next day, Wednesday, after a lovely brunch, I took off on the balance of my travel and headed for the Red Roof Inn in St Clairesville, Ohio, right on the border of West Virginia.    Tomorrow morning Chastity and I would be meeting Dr. Radcliffe.

I drove into West Virginia early Thursday morning.
